"I have years of experience with laptops and desktops at my office. By far....This laptop outranks all of the laptops that I have purchased for my office. Glad I bought it for personal use! Boots up fast and the battery life is incredible! The finger touchpad/cursor is a little quirky, but I prefer a mouse anyway. I liked it so well that I told my boss and he HAD to have one. Unfortunately EVERYONE was sold out...locally and online. So I researched and bought him a Toshiba that was identical except for the battery life. His has a lesser battery life than mine. Love it ! Love it ! Keep up the great work Toshiba! Make more laptops of this caliber with the huge battery life. Did I say I love it?"

"I recently got laid off and needed to find a job. In order to accomplish this feat quickly and efficiently I needed the right tools. That means I needed a computer with an internet connection and a word processor. I immediately decided to upgrade my old laptop of 7 years. It got me through college but now it was time to get serious.

I knew exactly what I needed after 4 years of college and being 3 years out. I needed a long lasting battery so I wouldn't be stuck at a desk plugged into the wall. I needed a lot of RAM and a fast processor. During my every day usage I run alot of programs and now I have to throw "find a job" into the mix so speed was a priority. I was also looking for a machine that would last another 7 years so expanable memory was a key factor. This machine has met all of those specs.

So now that I found something that would run like an army I was concerned about the hardware. What's inside this machine. The thing of most concern to me was the wireless card. I carry my laptop around alot. I wanted to be sure that I could connect anywhere and after some research I found this hardware was best. In addition the I found that Vista runs better on Intel processors than AMD. I may have paid for the name but I haven't had any issues.

I like having the built in key pad also. Less equipment to carry around. I havent had a chance in the past 1.5 months to use the web cam due to a more important job search but its there. I like all of the USB ports and powered ports. It has the CD/DVD RW. In the front I think its has a card reader but I am not sure. Again, looking for a job and I use my flash drive in the USB slot. My SD card has a USB reader. One day I will figure that out.

To say the least, I have had the chance to run alot of the programs already installed with their trial run. I like them and what Windows has done with Vista. I held off until now to try it out. It took me about a week to adjust from XP. I did not have the pleasure to use Vista in its buggy stage.

Also the Toshiba has an Eco-Mode which I use to get more juice out of my battery. It is nice. Speaking of the battery. It is a hump. The sales person could not tell me if it ran flush with the base or not. It does not run flush with the computer. Because of the extended life it holds, it is a bump and it helps with angling of the fan and your wrists.

The keyboard takes some getting used to. I am not used to placement of the keys but no one is with new laptops. I am fine now. I do like how the FN key is one key in and not on the outside. They switched it with the CTRL key. It has made my life so much easier. Last laptop I had at work the FN key was where the CTRL key usually is. What a pain. I also like how you can turn off and on the finger pad. It is also textured. That was a nice thing. Some HP laptops were too slippery and shiny. I felt like my finger was going all over!

My only major complaint is the color! I dont like the shiny black. I see finger prints and smudges everywhere! I find myself constantly wiping the keys down. Maybe I am just a clean freak, but I dont like it! hahaha.

In the end, I was able to run my internet, have my word processor up and run my other daily operations without the computer slowing down or acting up one bit. I took a two week vacation between job interviews and only had to charge the battery twice. I will note that it was used sparingly but still twice in two weeks! It is a smooth machine and kept up with some gaming on the side. As a previous HP user I am definately thinking of switching to Toshibas. I have seen a differently light and I am liking it."

"Had to replace my QOSMIO, because the screen developed the vertical lines and was almost covered up. I loved that laptop, but the size (17.5) and weight made it less usable for me in school. I had many options on replacement (HP, Sony, etc.) but dollar for dollar and previous experience brought me back to Toshiba. I purchased the 16 inch A505 and love my laptop."

"Well this PC is a good system, the only issue I have is the touch pad locks up at times. But this is a nice unit. the keys are big which makes it nice when your hunting and pecking the words:), The 10 key is very nice to use, took a while to realize it was there."

"I ended up buying this laptop because it was the newer verison of the one I was looking at. It had another GB for approx another $100 and I thought that was definitely worth upgrading but overall it was a little more then I wanted to spend. I'm still getting used to where to find things on the computer and I've only found two annoying things. I don't know how I set it off but every once and awhile it will scroll all the way down a page when I'm only trying to go partway to read something. I know that's a feature on the computer but I can't figure out how to stop it. The other thing is when I've tried to use the dvd burner, the copy doesn't come out right and there is nothing in the paperwork to explain why. Other than that it is a great computer. My other laptop was 7yrs old so to me this one is superfast! I haven't tried using it on just the battery power so I don't know how long it lasts."

"I have owned many different laptops over the years years and i have to say this is the best yet.
It not only looks good but performs well and does everything I ask of it.
This is the first time I have bought a Toshiba laptop and it certainly won't be the last. The built in webcam, harmon Kardon speakers, just the kind of touches you want to make you feel you have a quality product with a bit of thought behind it.
